The Brothers
Headed out late after working the morning, and decided to head up to Big Slide hoping that the clouds would clear. It was a warm 30°F in the Garden parking lot, and despite the good conditions for snowshoes I just wasn’t in the right state of mind for the hike.
Heading to Big Slide via the Brothers is one of my favorite hikes, because in addition to the marvelous and gorgeous people I’ve hiked it with, the views along the way are terrific. However, it’s far better when you can actually see the surrounding mountains; I told myself that if I still hadn’t seen Gothics or Giant by the time I hit the second Brother, I was calling it a day.
So that’s exactly what I did. Instead of just turning around, I doted for a while looking for photos (Lower WolfJaw did indeed look fine) and just as I was heading back down the First Brother, Giant Mountain opened up for me.
No summit on this hike, but a good day out regardless. It was a good way to spend a few hours.
