Street & Nye
Having successfully navigated a one-way traverse of Gothics & Sawteeth, and with the encouragement of our new 46er mentors, we decided to hike our first “unmaintained” trail to Street Mountain and Nye Mountain.
The trail, while technically unmaintained, was easy for us to follow. The water was low across the streams, so we didn’t even get wet.
It was a hot and sunny day, which I hadn’t accounted for when packing water, so we didn’t linger much. Most of the trip was forested, and there were some brief views along the way and at the top.
It was also a short hike for us – just over 8 miles round trip – so we were fresh at the end (and thirsty). We were surprised how easy it was to navigate the mostly-unmarked trail, and our new 46er mentors enjoyed our progress with us.
